Topic: It’s Got to Be… Motivational Mayhem

Motivational Mayhem
If mayhem means, to you dear reader, lots of frantic waving of arms and setting for targets, then you are mistaken in this instance.
Setting Motivational Targets, Goals, Plans and all that jazz has, thus far, been the easy bit.
Having a regular Writing Practice, getting Words on the Page, is quite another ink tank in the printer. You won’t be printing out what you don’t put in.
Ah, the joy of sitting here, tapping the keys and seeing the words you are now reading. This is the easy bit of being a Later Writer. Grabbing a notebook – oh yes, I have a few – and setting out paragraphs to increase my personal Work-in-Progress [WIP] is my goal.
But this leads to new problems:
- I have to type the words from the notebook eventually – far easier to type straight on my computer
- ideas for new work become ripped out sheets of paper which then have to be stored in the pockets of my On-the-Go file
The Motivational part of this piece is dictated by routine, stamina and discipline. I have no idea why the urge to NOT write can be much stronger than the WILL to write. I think: “I will” but it translates as “I will not”.
Who said, “there is no such thing as Writer’s Block.
Rhubarb!
