Writing My Own W.I.P.
Another title – Own Goals – extended!
This is becoming a Thing, one that isn’t worth the time of you readers. So, let’s say this now:
- I am not writing short stories or features
- I am not writing competition entries
- I AM working on a brand new project
And like all wise writers (me?) I am NOT discussing the nature of it. There is nothing embarrassing about the subject material. It is a novel, a particular genre.
Abandoning the Barn?
Anyone who knows me will also know my barn. I don’t own one, nor do I live in one. I’ve never lived in one but I have spent holiday time in them.
One was in France, a gîte, but a barn made fit for human inhabitation, just about! I loved the way the frame of the place was on show. Part of it had to be stepped over, another part meant ducking your head away from a huge beam.

I fell in love with the whole idea of barn-living and invented a setting and a Barn ripe for conversion, back in this country. I spent many years
writing – then resting (being ill) – then updating – then writing
Repeat the above many times and you’ve got an obsessive project that has now found rest in the bottom drawer of my filing cabinet.
My Cotswold Composition may never get marked but I feel so much lighter for off-loading The Problem that it had become.
Dear Reader, Who Are You?
- a brand new writer, newly retired and planning a project
- a seasoned writer who has far more experience than me
- an author who would like me to interview you (I shan’t promise when)
- OR, like me, are you a mixture of all three, blighted by a hidden illness?
