Lockdown Transformed

As I type, the United Kingdom is locked down against a deadly virus – you know which one. It’s 2021 now and we’ve been unable to travel anywhere on and off for 10 months or so.

As someone who has a particular vulnerability – two actually: “older age” and “underlying health issues” – I have been indoors for days on end through most of that time. There were two high days when we saw family members last summer, but it’s been my husband, my visiting carers in PPE and me for the rest of the time.

I did have major surgery last October so that gave me a 5-night break (hospital ITU ward) and 10-week recuperation (own home).

We might have been bored and boring by now if it weren’t for all our hobbies and interests. My husband has built several 1:24 model rally cars and has just started to seriously study his family history. Plus he has football-related interests.

I also love to be creatively occupied with my writing, reading, crochet, knitting, and TV & film dramas. Some of the latter are shared with my husband; others are not his cup of tea so I watch them while he is otherwise engaged – usually listening to an online football commentary while I select a romantic or classic film.

I have surprised myself by choosing some more gritty themes lately. I seem to be turning to crime! See Markets: Following my own Prompts where I discussed my current writing projects.
