PP is for Political Personalities

By Shirl D

Let me explain how I concluded this would be the PP topic for my next freewriting topic.

Where We Are Now – What Next?

The world stage seems dominated by pompous players. Surely we need a return to practical politicians…are we not, in fact, desperate for common sense and wholesome values?

Recalibrating the Globe

A recent edition of BBC One – The Repair Shop featured a new expert with the remit to recalibrate a globe that was attached to a clockwork mechanism such that the time anywhere around the world could be read.

It was fascinating to learn how the expert could refit a string of weights within the sphere, thus setting it free to spin on its axis forevermore. Each point around the globe could be “read” for the time of day in that geographical location.

The Political Link

Let’s think about the way planet Earth turns around every twenty-four hours…surely the role of a politician is to continuously recalibrate the part of the world they represent while contributing to (near) perfect global balance.

What the World Needs Now

The political world seems full of huge personalities – okay, one particular personality – who put ego before egalitarianism, riches before reason, and hedonism before the health of the people. The political agenda has become a hotchpotch of soundbites, social media pontification, and insanity.

Step forward PLEASE an elected globe expert committed to recalibrating their own part of our world while continually casting a weather eye to the wider community.

Don’t Neglect Today

And while we wait for positive and lasting change, let’s not neglect those far more humble politicians who are making the small differences we need, one day at a time. Tirelessly, thanklessly, serving the common good.

Clearly, this post has also been PP for Personal oPinion.
