2024, Hello
By now, the whole world has arrived in 2024. Many parts will hardly have noticed a difference, such is their current state of angst through manmade and natural disasters. My heart goes out to them, individuals, rescue workers, and leaders alike.
Christmas Dinner itself took a change of direction back in 2022. My lovely husband spends too long feeding us both (with MS on board, I am not a whizz in the kitchen unless you count the thrills, spills, and falls). So our festive lunch in 2022 and 2023 was no longer the full turkey roast. Instead, we adopted a full griddled sirloin steak meal as an easier and enjoyable alternative.
At the end of this current, day-old, year (counting premature chickens before they’re a twinkle in the rooster’s eye) I’m suggesting I will have a griddled salmon steak as beef plays havoc with my overly sensitive digestive system.
New Year is for Writing
For a number of years, I’ve relished that precious down time between Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve as being a great opportunity for my writing.
Whether finishing a short story, planning blog posts, or adding words to a novel, I love knowing the phone and front door will be quieter. We have four grown up children between us and they live so far away, winter tends to be a ‘do your own thing’ opportunity once we’ve made or received pre-Christmas visits. I adore every visit but I also love being at home with ideas and opportunities flowing.
This year we had a post-Christmas visitor for a few days. The issue with hidden Illnesses like mine is they tend to be highlighted when busy-ness arrives in abundance.
So now it’s that delicious time one week later and I am reigniting my passion for querying literary agents and getting further along with planning the new novel – in a marvellous new notebook.
The novel currently being offered is about ‘hope’ – the new one is about ‘truth’. They are commodities we all need, aren’t they?
