A New Look and a New Post

By Shirl D

My blog has been redesigned – the kind of activity I can enjoy now the WIP Novel is being left alone for a few days.

You should find it easier to navigate on a tablet or phone, and a lot less busy altogether.

New Features

  • the menus on the top bar are now collapsible, much easier to find what you are looking for
  • all blog posts are listed
  • the category list and tag cloud have a limited range

This Redesign Was Not Just for Readers

While I’ve been busily writing my, I’ve been conscious of not writing blog posts. I have kept up with my book reviews and social media but Later Writer is still my baby so I will help it to grow as often as the time will allow – any ideas will be most welcome.

What Next?

Late last year I completed my first draft novel and paused for a few weeks while it rested. How did that go?

  1. the bit that was bugging me would fail any reader’s patience levels
  2. the so-called edit became a rewrite while prepping for the structural edit
  3. last week I FINISHED draft 2 and the story now works – IM(not so)HO
  4. “all” that’s left is to:
~ read through aloud for typos and glaring errors
~ complete all chapter plans on a spreadsheet I will then print and slice into chapters ready to shuffle the whole book
    ~ lose about 1500 words
~ allow my alpha reader full access to the printed manuscript to my husband so he can proofread the whole novel
~ send out my final draft to beta readers the first of which will be my sister and her ex-police husband
    ~ prep my submission package
    ~ pray
