Dear Readers…

Long Time, No Posts…

This summer has been a significant one for me…the first one I’ve enjoyed for many years because I have managed to lose a huge amount of weight, thus less stressed by high temperatures and sunshine.

That’s NOT The Main Reason for No Posts…

Ten days ago, I completed the first draft of (in my opinion) my most viable novel yet. It has taken me a year to write 106K words, much revised along the way. This is a huge achievement for anyone so I do not shy away from patting myself on the back.

So, What’s Next…

The novel is resting for a few weeks so that I can return to it as a fresh piece of work – this will be the editing stage. I have a short editing course (and other notes/articles) to follow so that I can get my book into the best possible shape before sending it out to prospective agents, or for any novel-writing competitions I may enter.

For now, I am reading…it is such a luxury to choose, buy, download, organise, admire and hold books in my hands that other authors once wrote as a first draft. I adore reading but there is a funny story from my past…

At the Age of Eleven, I was NOT Reading Enough…

My father, unbeknown to me, visited my grammar school headmistress. She took to walking me to the school library… eventually I found out why. I can’t recall being mortified but I did go on to become a teacher.

Whenever a parent or guardian came into my classroom to express concerns for their child’s reading (many did) I would ask two questions:

  1. do you and the rest of the family all read? Children learn by imitation…
  2. do you have plenty of suitable books available to your child… do you visit the local library?

I am glad my Dad cared enough and I hope, somehow, he knows I’ve written a book.

My Reviews…

Follow my social media to know when I next review. I am not affiliated to any book publishers or sellers – I do it because I adore reading – by writing about books, I’m learning all the time.

Until the next time…
