Running Out of Rhythm
Is it just me or has the year suddenly set off at a gallop?
I’ve come out of semi-shielding from the risk of Covid19. I was not asked to officially shield (as a person with health risks) but I was, a year ago, advised by my GP to take social distancing very seriously. My husband falls into an age-related category for similar due care so we wrapped ourselves in the comfort of our apartment and enjoyed each other’s company plus our interests and hobbies.
I am mindful of all readers and writers who had to soldier on alone in their home, unable to have a hug or even a meal together. It’s coming soon, folks, as long as the Government’s roadmap is adhered to.
Now the UK is slowly edging towards a return to ‘normal life’ and it feels most strange. Yesterday, we had a DAY OUT! No further than 4 miles from home at any point, no shopping, no meetings, just coffee in one park followed by a take out lunch in another. Oh boy, was it blissful! Sun on skin (plus Factor 30) and fresh air!
Just sitting in the garden is bliss on a temperate day, (at a distance from fellow residents of our apartment complex).
A New Rhythm and Seasonal Shifts
Last weekend, the UK ‘sprang forward’ into British Summer Time. We moved our watches and clocks an hour forward before we went to bed on Saturday night – officially this annual time shift happens at 0200 but I’ve never felt the need to set an alarm clock to do the dreadful deed!
We effectively lose an hour!
Dear me, does it interfere with my biological rhythm! The only way I know to cope is to actually go to bed early and not fuss too much about what time I get up the next morning. Somehow my body smooths out the rough wavelengths and returns all to normal working order. As normal as MS allows…
Preparing for Spring’s Pleasures
Another pause in proceedings followed during which I came to terms with New Life. I would define this as Post Lockdown Reorder (PLR). If you have followed me this far, you too will be making this list:
- sort out ‘old’ spring & summer clothes
- buy new spring & summer clothes
- book a pedicure (with husband!)
- yearn for my hair appointment on April 16th (my locks have never been this far down and I’m not keen)
- open the calendar and start making plans to meet with friends & family (the yummy part of PLR in this context)
- keep my diary up to date as it is my Go To writing practice prompt!
Then Along Comes Today – Are You an April Fool?
April Fool’s Day – I don’t pretend to know how it began and I’m not going to fool you by looking it up. As you know, I don’t “Do Links” very often but I’ve given you one for this. Try not to get lost on the Internet, or else I may never see you again!
